Russell Martin, son of Albert and Adeline Martin, was a 4th generation resident of Fremont (the Martins came to Fremont from the Azores in the 1880’s). His uncles all drove race cars and were mechanics (if you do drop in, ask him to show you some of his vintage racing photos!). Russ started as a mechanic in 1969 and worked for Chevrolet, Pontiac, and Buick dealers and independent shops until he opened Centerville Auto Repair in 1979; he named it after a district in Fremont Ca.

When Russ moved the shop up to Grass Valley in 2008, he discovered that Grass Valley was named Centerville in 1851, so decided to keep the name.Centerville Auto Repair had an excellent reputation in Fremont, winning “BEST AUTO REPAIR” twice.  That reputation continues here in Grass Valley, although the business has developed into NailheadBuick.com
